After our first Fume Free Friday, there was a lot of waste as a result of the plastic cups used for the student’s Milo drink. For this term’s Fume Free Friday, the Sustainability Committee encouraged students to bring their own reusable cup to drink their Milo from. A total of 155 students bought their own cup, which significantly reduced the waste of plastic cups into the rubbish bin. On Friday 1st April, Aubin Grove Primary School held it’s first ‘Fume Free Friday’ for the year. It was a huge success with over 500 students participating in this great event. On the student’s arrival to school, their ‘travelsmart’ efforts were rewarded through receiving a cold Milo. The line for Milo was SO long, we nearly ran out of milk. Fume Free Friday officially started at Aubin Grove Primary School in 2015. The school’s Sustainability Committee has developed a whole school approach to promote safe and active ways to travel to school.
