You can change the world by changing your trip to school!
We have hand stamped the walkers, rewarded the Walking School Bus Passengers with breakfasts and stickers and showered our Park and Walkers with Starcards and SPOT prizes. But how do we reach that minority who drive to the school, or drop off at Kiss and Ride or in the car park? How do we reach those who insist on "hopping onto the verge for just a moment" despite the
"No Stopping' and 'No parking' signs that litter our school environment?
I post this Pooper Scooper…Continue
A great start to the week this week with lots of adult volunteers and Travelsmarties on hand (!) to hand stamp families who came to school on scooter bikes or walked, even if it was just part of the way. The three main entrances to school were covered, and this gave the Travelsmarties plenty of…Continue
Our goal for this term is to have 50% of all classes in double digits using Active Transport. On what we call Toesdays (Tuesdays) we run our Warnbro Walker competition. If people use Active Transport they earn a raffle ticket. It is put into a draw which is drawn at the time we announce the winner of the Warnbro Walker. There are two draws, one for senior and one for junior. The draw is a lucky dip made up of Rewards from Travel…Continue
Lakelands Primary School is now open from k-6 and we are happy to say we are back on the Travelsmart band wagon for this year.
We have just recently completed our hands up surveys and selected our Travelsmart team who are beginning to help plan our first big event for this term.
Ride to school day is approaching fast and we plan to promote this day by having a dress up your bike day. Students are encouraged to dress up their bikes and ride them to school. During recess time…Continue
The TStS Parent Team at Charthouse started the year with a couple less volunteers. It was sad to see two of our dedicated volunteers head off to different schools.
We are hoping to be able to recruit some more volunteers through our Parent Morning Tea tomorrow, which has been arranged by the P&C.…Continue
At Charthouse, our P&C support all our TravelSmart Activities. The P&C and Parent TravelSmart Team work hard to organise Event Days and maintain our ongoing StarCard strategy. We have been…Continue
Our Parent TravelSmart Team and P&C arranged for our Baseline Hands Up survey to be run on Wednesday 11th February.

Our first Park and Walk on Monday morning launched today with a large animated "Mr Brumby" on hand to offer the children an iced bun to sustain them on their walk! Move-it Monday was announced via our school app and we left from our local shopping centre to walk to school.
Parent dropped their older children off with the Travel Smartie Adult, and she walked them safely to school whilst most parents stayed with their younger children to see them off into class. Today was also the…Continue
I was pleased to see that what I imagined would be a note home to parents and carers has instead been posted on to the home page of our school website [see link above] This gives the document the full backing and support of our Principal and the whole school ( and can't be lost under a lunch box!) This change came today, following our unannounced Hands-up survey and prior to…Continue

We are the new TS team for Term 1, 2015! We had our first meeting today to organise our pre survey and talk about the Ride to School event later this term. We are excited about being TS leaders!
Our TS coordinator, Dr lewis, came to our class and talked about the Ecological Footprint and where TravelSmart fits into that.
Isabella, Liam, Atticus, Marianna, Selma, Grace, Amy and Ale.
Hi fellow Travellers,
Our hands-up survey should be in today to coincide with the new term of TSTS initiatives. We are adding a Move-it Monday to our Park and Ride scheme AND a second parking location, for families coming from the east of the suburb. We are keen to get our Walking School Buses up and running with a new term ahead of us but we are unsure how to coordinate the end of day return trip?
How do you organise pick up from various classrooms of multiple children for…Continue
We discovered at the 2014 Brains Trust professional development workshop that whilst South Thornlie PS may not be very active here at tsts.com.au, parent coordinator MIchelle Manolas is whipping up a storm of TS activity at the school! This term we celebrate her achievements.
Our new website is for teachers and parents who want to help kids get to grips with public transport. We’ve shared everything we know in a fun, interactive way, so your kids can learn how to use public transport safely and responsibly.
You’ll find a flexible and interactive program, with extensive resources for teachers, parents and students that are completely free.
We have curriculum linked lessons,…Continue

We participated in the City of Armadale Active Transport Consultation in November 2014. Teachers asked their classroom how the children travelled to school that day, how they usually travel to school and if they would enjoy to actively travel to school. The teachers then completed a survey which asked in their opinion what discourages parents allowing their children to actively travel, schools current active transport incentives and for any ideas or suggestions on what could increase active…Continue
