You can change the world by changing your trip to school!
Just wanted to share something that was placed in our school bulletin this week.
Thanks to all staff for emphasising bike and scooter road…
The TravelSmart program has taken off with a bang this year at BSC! We have so many new things happening to help us advertise this amazing program and the support from the school has been fantastic.
To help us gain a greater amount of student followers BSC has specifically included TravelSmart to our whole school rewards system - Vivo miles. We can now give out points to our Junior Green Team members to reward them for the amazing work they do as well as to the general student…Continue
See the above link for our Semester planner document which includes our weekly Motor-less Monday meetings, our Footprint Friday competitions as well as the scheduled planning for our two TravelSmart comps being held this semester - the…Continue
This year our Travelsmart team has come out in strong force. In our area we currently don't have a cross walk for our students to cross the road safely to school, however, our amazing P & C are fighting hard for our school to have one place in a safe area for our students to cross. Currently we have minimal space for cars to park at our school, so this encourages parents to choose a smarter way to travel to school to lower the congestion. Recently in our school newsletter we have warned…Continue
I have been discussing the ways we could encourage being active to school with the school chaplain and one of the keen parents at our breakfast club. I find it a good opportunity to touch base and I hear any latest developments from them in relation to discussion with the school board and p & c. Also I find many opportunities arise when dropping off our children at the bike rack where parents congregate. I like to organic approach that happens there.
Jolimont PS will has a Bike2School breakfast on 3 March 2016 8:00 to 8:50
In the past week we have had so much going on at Baldivis Secondary College that is concerned with Sustainability! Miss Truss and Miss Gillett sat down together last week and came up with a Semester plan for what awesome activities we will run with our Junior Green Team for this year! We have decided on two main events to be organised by the JGT which will be run at lunch time on Fridays! We are so excited for these events to take place and encourage as many students to walk and ride to…Continue
The students in Year 5/6 conducted our first survey of how our students travel to school. It was a hot day and the results reflected that. On February 9th 306 students came to school by car, 12 by bus or train, 100 walked and 65 rode bikes.
Classes visited by TS Team for R2SD promotion Done.
Ready for Ride2School Day Nearly.
Below, 2 examples of posters promoting Ride2School Day.
This is Bannister Creek Primary School's first post. We are participating in Ride to School day on March 2nd this year and the Year 5/6 class have been busy making posters to promote it. Room 16's assembly next week will be all about why it is better to ride or walk to school. Everyone that rides or walks on March 2nd will go in the draw for some prizes.
My five year old has begun cycling to school. The first week or two all my kids struggled to follow the usual car-run habit but now they insist on cycling. Even today in the heat as I was reluctant. There is a noticeable increase in families cycling their kids to school as well and I wonder if it's new year recommitment to being active or bikes received for Christmas! Either way it appears the existing cycling families are encouraging the others to participate. Pleased also at the fitness…Continue
Today we are making more posters to put around the school to encourage people to come to school in a Travelsmart way. We have also written scripts for our assembly and PA to promote being Travelsmart on the 4th March.

We are back on the Travelsmart band wagon for another year and preparations have already begun for our first event. National Ride To School day is approaching fast. Our Travelsmart Smarties are being selected in week 5 where they will also be helping to run our Ride to School Day event ( Dress Up Your Bike Day). Posters have been created by our year 5/6's and placed around the school to promote the day as students with the best dressed bike will win some amazing Travelsmart prizes.…Continue

The display board is ALL ready with the "stuff," like our planner, our goals, assembly roster, Warnbro Walker Term1.
These handy TS posters will guide us and keep us on track, enabling us to see HOW and WHERE we are going.…Continue

Today we worked on our posters for the Ride to School Day on 4th March. We displayed the posters around the school.
We also looked at the results of our Hands Up pre survey. Only 31% of students came to school in a TravelSmart way. We are going to improve this percentage and our posters are a…Continue
Our first Walking School Bus for 2016 is set for this coming Friday, the 12th February. Let's hope the weather cools down a bit by the end of the week :-) We had such a great turn out during our trial runs during Term 4 of last year, and we are looking forward to a fun and active 2016. Thank you so much to all of the students, parents and teachers who have been joining us on our Feet Only Fridays. We hope to see you all back - and lots of new faces too - this term! Here's a photo from our…Continue
