Cycle To School Day Wednesday 21 May 2012
Congaratulations to everyone who took part in a very colourful Cycle to School Day at Rosalie PS. We had an amazing response, with 235 children (64.7%) Travelling Smart to School- 150 children rode their bikes! The class who had the most participants was Year 2 Room 7 with 62.5% of the class riding.

On Wednesday 21st March we held our Cycle to School Day Healthy Breakfast. Each year we participate in Cycle to School day to support and celebrate bike week. Children were encouraged to walk, ride or scoot to school and those who did received a healthy breakfast on arrival. Breakfast included cereal and fresh fruit. On Thursday 8th March we held our first ‘Random Raffle Day’. The random raffle days were mentioned to the students at the TravelSmart launch assembly. The TravelSmart students made an announcement to the school in the morning over the PA system telling them that it was a random raffle day. The TravelSmart team then went around to all the classes in the school – from Kindy to Year 7. Any child who walked, rode or scootered to school was given a raffle ticket. The TravelSmart team were very happy when they got to change our TravelSmart sign from silver to gold this week. We think the new gold sign looks fantastic out the front of our school J

I have just been playing on this great UK road safety website, there are games for children to play that will teach them road safety and cycling tips. Teachers, parent and children will enjoy learning about such topics as bike maintenance, safely crossing the road and much more!

To all of our new TravelSmart to School light model members, as a special welcome, we would like to offer $100 to each school running a Cycle to School Day event during Bike Week 19th - 25th March 2012, to go towards fruit or a breakfast.

On Thursday 1st March, Redcliffe Primary School relaunched our TravelSmart campaign for 2012. During the school assembly our TravelSmart children along with Emily Carroll, City of Belmont TravelSmart Officer, spoke to the whole school and parents about our new and old incentives for this year.
