Met with Student Volunteers

We had our first meeting today with our student volunteers who are 5 children from year 6. The children are all very excited for the plans for our new committee and came to the meeting with lots of wonderful and bright ideas. They have been tasked with coming up with a name for the new committee and this will then launch into a school wide competition to design a poster promoting the committee and the sentiment behind it.

Bus travel is useful ... and fun!

We went on an excursion to Perth, to the International Women's Day breakfast.  It was a big cooked breakfast and there were interesting speakers.

We caught the bus home and had a lot of fun on the bus.

There was an advertisement on the bus and this gave us the idea of presenting our International Women's Day excursion talk as a news broadcast.

Fume Free Fridays

Last week we made PA announcements about our Fume Free Fridays to remind everyone that it is a good thing to come to school in a TravelSmart way.  No prizes were offered because we wanted students to come to school in a TravelSmart way even if there were no rewards.  In our announcement we said, "Please come to school in a TravelSmart way on Fridays … remember this is a healthy activity, reduces greenhouse gases from cars from going into the atmosphere and lessens traffic congestion around…

Before the special TravelSmart day we made announcements over the PA and displayed posters around the school.  Students were given raffle tickets and stickers as they arrived at school on our Ride to School Day.  We drew 20 raffle tickets and students collected their prizes at recess.  Our Ride to…
