Laklelands were very excited to receive our Travelsmart sign with our SIlver level sticker :). The sign has been placed at one of the front entrances to the school for everyone to admire and our certificate was showcased at our last assembly and has now been placed in our school staffroom with our other awards :). This is a great achievement for Lakelands Primary School.
Term3 has been very busy at Lakelands Primary in regards to TravelSmart even though we have had some horrible wet weather. Our year 4 students completed a bike education workshop ( a report and photos still to come). We also had a whole school classroom competition. Kindy - Pre- Primary students were to colour or paint a one of the Walking School Bus pictures available on the website. Students from yr 1- 3 were to design a poster to encourage others to Travel actively to school and…Continue
Over the last 2 years, one of the TS Teams' goals has been to fund Bike Ed. for Years 3 & 4 students. We are pleased to say that that goal has been realized in both years. Not only has the goal been achieved on both occasions but it is significant because it has been altruistic ( our Teams funded but were not participants in Bike Ed)
Last week this year's Bike Ed concluded with Instructor Murray taking the 2 groups through their final circuits. A big thank you, Murray for your…Continue
We have had a couple of very successful Walk to School activities that we would like to share.
Footprint Wall - all those students who walked to school on that day were encouraged to decorate footprints and we then displayed them across the wall in our undercover area for all to see.…Continue
Wow! We can't believe we have been doing No Motor Monday for 6 weeks already! Today we thought we would celebrate those children who have been helping the environment by walking, scooting or cycling to school each Monday since we started. We handed out badges to 42 fantastic foot-powered people. What a great start!…Continue
Best laid plans can go out the window! The Team had judging responsibilities all sorted then a class Assembly rehearsal got in the way, depleting our numbers by half!

So we finally got the chance to take our Junior Green Team out to the front gates to see our awesome new TravelSmart to School sign! We had Heidi and Dillon place our Bronze level sticker on the sign and we all posed for some photos. We are all so proud of our achievements and can't wait to get to silver! We also took a picture with our Innovate award featuring our principle Mr Svendsen. …Continue

On the 26-10-16 is Walk 2 School Day. We will be hosting 3 W2SD walks. We will be serving fruit platters at recess & there will be stickers given to everyone who chooses AT.
We are using these walks as our Farewell to WOO.
The reason for our Farewell to WOO is that the Heart Foundation is no longer funding WOO as an event any more. The HF is moving to Walk WA. It will not be for one day BUT every day.

These 16 STARS received a prize from our Prize box for completing the first row on…Continue
Last week Salsabila, Matthew & I were in a bit of a hiccup. Michaela did not get to print out our colouring-ins for WWU. The Year 6s weren't here because of transition. We couldn't find computers that were free, but then Mrs Blackburn helped us print out the drawings (colouring-ins) & we still had to do a lot of things.
Salsabila had to hand out the WWU & explain to the classes in Years 3 & 4. Matthew had to do the same with Pre-Primaries & Year 1 & I had to…Continue
About a week ago the TST released our WWU colouring-in competition to the classrooms around the school. We are promoting the competition through Assemblies, posters & messages over the PA system. We made a box for the entries & put it in the Library with our new TS Meeting Point signs. It is on for 2 weeks and ends on the 23rd of August. We are excited to see & judge the entries.
(Mentor's note: The Team negotiated with our Librarian for the entry…Continue
Hi i am Naomi. I am a student at Forest Crescent Primary school. I am a travel smart helper and I like being one. The best thing about being a Travel Smartie is being able to help the environment by not using the car so much.
Hi I am Bethany. I am a Year 5 at Forest Crescent primary school. I have just became a travel smart helper. I once wanted so much to ride to school, I rode to school in the bucketing rain. That shows that I really am set up for the job : )
