You can change the world by changing your trip to school!
What a fantastic start we have had to the Padbury Catholic Primary School Walking School Bus this term for our fortnightly Feet Only Fridays! We had our first walk on Friday October 23rd, and we were thrilled to have an enthusiastic 27 kids and 10 adults brave the predicted rain (which never came thankfully!) and join us for our first walk. Feet Only Friday Fever quickly spread over the following weeks, and we had an incredible 67 walkers on our last bus!…Continue
Well done to our TS Team for being recognised by the Heart Foundation, for promoting Walk Over October activities. They say a picture tells a thousand words so here goes.

At the Travelsmart Annual Awards presentation day, Luke McPharlin from the Fremantle Dockers was there to present schools with their awards. Last year's travelsmart coordinator, Maryann, accepted the award on behalf of the school.

This time of year, your school may be holding information day for parents, particularly for new parents starting next year. Speaking to the parents about Travelsmart early in their school career at your school, establishes the expectations of your school as a Travelsmart school.
Our Principal is very supportive of Travelsmart and invited the the TS Coordinator and the Parent Champion to address incoming Kindy parents at their information morning. Here we could introduce Travelsmart…Continue
Jolimont PS has just completed a hands-up survey (13 Nov 2015):

We have room to improve!
Well done Warnbro on all your achievements and interesting blogs. What great members you have.
We are beginning to investigate building some bike shelters and would like some information re cost etc.
We have researched funding and have an area we would like to develop and build a new shelter. What we need is help with our costing. Is there anybody out there who may be able to assist.
Any help or ideas much appreciated.
Since the Travelsmart workshop a few weeks ago, we have done our mapping exercises, created a student Travelsmartie team, have had a bike shed upgrade approved by Admin and are about to apply for the connecting schools grant to finance it.
Our risk assessment showed a real issue with the cycle access along Brockway Rd between Underwood Ave and John XXIII Drive. There is a cycle lane on the road but the kids find it scary and dangerous. So we are putting out our feelers to find how we…Continue
Here is some lovely information on some of our TravelSmart Committee members from this year - 2015.
Hi, my name is Angela. I like to walk my dog a lot. I also like to go to the park and play on the playground. I also like to play basketball and sometimes netball. I like to do cartwheels at the park and I also like to go to Kings Park. I have great…Continue
The highlight for me is for our school to walk, ride, scoot and skate more.
The not so good is when sometimes we would not get to our Travel Smart session on time and then we would be so far behind.
The best thing is punching the Star Cards and writing blogs because we would share what we did.
Something I learnt was to be confident to read at Assembly and talk to classes.
My good wish for the 2106 Team is for more people to walk and I hope TS can be the…Continue
This morning's first FOOTPRINT FRIDAY went off with a bang as we had our five awesome Junior Green Team members out at the front gates handing out raffle tickets to the students who walked and rode their bikes to school. They did an absolutely fantastic job and their commitment to the morning was flawless. We are so proud of you all who managed to get to school by 7.30 to start and all walk/ride themselves!!
Thanks to Neha, Jess, Dillon, Daniel and…Continue

The Low Carbon Schools Pilot Program team met Spike (whose photo is on my page) while we were away on weekend retreat, it was lovely to see and hear him as he shuffled under the deck and sniffed thru the gaps at us.
Our final info session for the Low Carbon Schools Program is tomorrow night, you can learn about how your school can be involved. Click on the link to register https://lcspp.eventbrite.com or give me a call 0478 138…Continue
What a beautiful morning we had for the Great Southern Grammar (GSG) final walk to school event of the year.
After the weekend of the Royal visit Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, the Albany Show and a long weekend for Albany school students, we roused only a small group of keen walkers, with 36 students from Middle and Junior school taking part this time.
Along the bush track and the new sealed pathway section we saw; red capped parrots, wattle birds, pelicans,…
My middle child had gastro and our eldest did not really require me accompanying him but I thought good exercise for me. Besides I had promised the walking 'group' I was doing it Monday mornings. Felt bit silly in my fluoro vest actually. Next time I will reward myself with a coffee pit stop after school drop off . Must say it encourages me to have more contact with my kids' teachers and take interest in the school happenings. I need to post something in the school newsletter next week.
Walk Over October
Thank you to the children who walked or rode to school on Wednesday 21st October.
All the children who took part were given a sticker and either a slap band or a pen.
Twenty lucky children received prizes at the assembly on the 28th October.
