You can change the world by changing your trip to school!
Our Golden Sneaker award at each assembly remains popular. The Travel Smart Team make the announcements at each fortnightly assembly. The winner from the previous assembly gets to draw out the new winner who chooses their prize from my prize box. Their photo is put in our school newsletter.
Last but by no means least, our final class participant in the Challenge, Room 17. I had been given a few hints on what this was like so I was really looking forward to seeing it completed. With 3 TS Team members in the class I knew it would be good! At the moment it is in pride of place in the Office Foyer for all to see. I just love the attention to detail. What a fantastic effort! Well done, Room 17 you have done us all proud.

Cycle Safe day at John XXIII to be held Dec 6 2017
Big announcement at assembly this Thursday!
Our special Walk Over October day ran smoothly. At the start of the day we wore our TravelSmart T-shirts and stood at all the school gates handing out stickers and raffle tickets to everyone who came to school in a TravelSmart way. All the little Kindies and PrePrimaries were given stickers anyway to encourage them to be TravelSmart in the future.
When the siren went we drew the lucky 21 raffle tickets - 7 each for first, second and third prizes. Just before recess we…Continue
When Mrs Yates tried to register for WOO, she found out that the Heart Foundation would no longer be sponsoring it. We found out that there were LOTS of WOO stickers that needed to be used up, so we offered to take as many as we could have.
There were that many that Beth Goodall, from the HF, decided to deliver them. Mrs Yates asked Beth if she would like to meet the TS Team when she delivered the stickers back in September.
Last week, our Year 5 students took part in four days of bike safety lessons from the team at West Cycle. Students learnt how to prepare their bicycles to be visable on the road, how to ensure that their bike is safe and correct procedures for helmets, clothing and footwear. Once again, the program was supported by the City of Belmont.
Thank you West Cycle for an enjoyable and very practical course for our Year 5s.…Continue

Our October TravelSmart Day will be next week, on Friday 21st October. We will…Continue
We will be walking all over October as we say farewell to the final Walk Over October. Blogging about everything will have to come later!…Continue
On Monday of week 10, Term 3, the Junior Green Team conducted the end of term TravelSmart Survey. The results from the survey are shown below. We are so happy to see that our hard work is paying off and we are seeing an improvement in students using active transport to get to school! We calculated that 68% of students at BSC used active transport to get to school and only 32% are using the car! This number has decreased by 5.5% from our last survey in May, 2016 which is awesome to see! The…Continue

We are looking forward to our Cycle safe day in Term 4.
We have a wonderful day planned of Cycle events and team games.
We are trying to get some funding for an upgrade of our school facilities.
The weather is fining up and holidays are fast approaching great weather for checking our bikes fixing them up and going for a ride!
Our Year 5 TravelSmart team met again today to prepare for World Car Free Day on Thursday 22 September. We prepared our TravelSmart raffle prizes by selecting which items would be 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes. There are seven prizes in each group and they include helmets, apple slicers, bike pumps and bells, shoe laces and lots more.
We also worked out who was going to stand at which school gate to hand out raffle tickets to students who arrived in a TravelSmart way.
