I held a poster competition for Walk Over October. Entries were received from children in years one to six.
One of our EAs did the judging for me. The winning entries (1st - 3rd) from each class were given a prize at the assembly. All winning entries were on display on my classroom windows for every one to see.…Continue
Our Golden Sneaker award at each assembly remains popular. The Travel Smart Team make the announcements at each fortnightly assembly. The winner from the previous assembly gets to draw out the new winner who chooses their prize from my prize box. Their photo is put in our school newsletter.

Walk Over October
Thank you to the children who walked or rode to school on Wednesday 21st October.
All the children who took part were given a sticker and either a slap band or a pen.
Twenty lucky children received prizes at the assembly on the 28th October.

Many thanks for the great rewards that we are able to get. The children love the prizes and without your support we would not be able to hold these competitions and raffles. It is very much appreciated as is all the support we receive.
I held a colouring in and poster competition leading up to our Walk to School day. Two student teachers currently doing a prac at our school were the judges selecting two winners from each class. The children selected their prizes and received them at the assembly on the 24th October.

We held our Walk to School day on Friday 24th October and had sixty nine children plus some parents take up the challenge. The Travel Smart team collected the data and wrote out raffle tickets for all the children that took part. We will draw out some winning tickets at a future assembly.

We celebrated our Walk Safely to School Day by encouraging all students to walk or ride to school on Friday 23rd May.
Leading up to this event:
we conducted a hands up survey to see how many children were walking or riding to school.
advertised Walk Safely to School Day in our school newsletter and on our school website
the Travel Smart team made posters and put them up in each teaching area and other parts of the school.

Our children had the opportunity to be involved in three bike skills sessions delivered by Murray from Cycle West. The three sessions were held on the 13th, 20th and 27th of May. The 1.00 pm session catered for the children from the junior part of the school and the 2.00 pm session involved my year three and four students as well as a few children from the upper primary classes. The course covered bike handling skills, helmet and clothing safety checks as well as road awareness…Continue
During term one children who walked or rode to school had their names entered into our big raffle held at the end of the term. Thanks to the very kind donation by Mr David Bombara - parent and real estate agent from Acton Coogee, two lucky children won a bike each. The lucky winners were Lucia and Liam. Thanks to David for his very generous donation.
We wore old painting clothes and hats, and we had water to drink.
