You can change the world by changing your trip to school!
We have just completed our term 4 Hands up survey. It looks like we are getting a few more students walking and riding to school. We will await the professional results.
On Tuesday 29th November we held our term 4 walk to school day. We were joined by our local MP. On arrival to school all children that walked received a free piece of fruit thanks to IGA Beaumaris.
Last week our Travelsmart committee put in an application to get a crossing guard on a busy street near our school. We counted over 700 cars in a one hour period!!!! Hopefully the application is processed and accepted which will allow more families to walk to school without the worry of this busy road.…Continue
Last Thursday we held our term 3 walk to school day. It was a good turn out considering the chilly mornings we have been having. We had three groups leaving different locations, along with people walking from their own points. We gathered around in the undercover area once at school and again IGA Beaumaris provided lovely fresh fruit for all participants. We look forward to term fours walk to school day.
Beaumaris Primary School held our walk to school day today, Friday 13th May. We had people leave from three meeting points and our volunteer parents led the groups to school. Upon arrival to school each participant was rewarded with a free piece of fresh fruit, kindly donated by our local Beaumaris IGA.
We have finally completed our "hands up " survey for our school. Out of 314 students surveyed we have 223 that travel to school by car!!!! Our aim this year is to try and change this number. We are thinking of having a bike/scooter obstacle course day later on in the year and hope that that attracts more children to use alternative transport than driving. Our first walk to school day of the year will be Friday May 13th (We chose this day as our upper school will be on camp on the national…Continue
I commented last week that we have recently had 3 crossing guards approved for our school and how exciting this is. We are now looking for some help from others schools as one of the guards is a volunteer position and I would just like some ideas and guidance from other schools who have been in a similar situation and how did you find a suitable candidate for the job.
Thank you for your help
We are very excited to announce that we have just received confirmation that we have been approved 3 crossing guards for our school at 3 vital locations. Currently we do not have any crossing guards making walking to school for a lot of children quite dangerous. After doing some research I discovered how easy it is to put in an application for a crossing guard and hence our travel safety committee within our P&C was born. All of the applications we submitted met the criteria and all have…Continue
We had our first meeting today with our student volunteers who are 5 children from year 6. The children are all very excited for the plans for our new committee and came to the meeting with lots of wonderful and bright ideas. They have been tasked with coming up with a name for the new committee and this will then launch into a school wide competition to design a poster promoting the committee and the sentiment behind it.
The children had some fantastic ideas for the future including…Continue
