You can change the world by changing your trip to school!
Deep in discussion with preliminary planning for 2017.
This afternoon saw the final 2016 TS session, with the 2016 Team handing over to the 2017 Team. This is how the session panned out: last couple of Star Carders to select…Continue
With Michaela sick all of last week, I wasn't sure whether she would return in time to complete her reflections of her TS year.
While the rest of the TS Team, quickly finished off Star Card business & prep for the Q&A with "prospective" 2017 TS "applicants," Michaela beavered with her reflections & TAG ( Tip, Advice, Good wish) for the incoming 2017 Team. True to the teamwork this group has established, all was done & dusted by everyone (in the time allotted), ready…Continue
The highlight was getting to Platinum. That was also the good part!
The not so good was nearly not getting the Winter Warm-up Competition up & running because we had some hiccups, but we got them sorted & everything came together.
The best thing for me was speaking at Assemblies.
Something I learnt was better team skills.
My good wish for the 2017 TS Team is to achieve Double Platinum.
(Mentor's note: With a Q & A next week with…Continue
"It has been an honour & privilege for Ms Riley & me to work with an exceptional group of students comprising the TS Team, who have encouraged all of you to use Active Transport as THE WAY to come to school.
This group has achieved MUCH this year: events like the Farewell WOO Challenge & ongoing campaigns like the Warnbro Walker & Star Cards; 147 points short of Double Platinum, that means the TST has earnt nearly 1000 points during this year.
We want to…Continue
I am so proud of our team. They have worked tirelessly all year organising events and promoting active transport.
Congratulations on a job well done.
As half our Team is away on camp, I took the opportunity to ask our Year 5s to jot down their reflections on 2016.
The highlight was working as a team & getting things done. The good stuff were the events that happened eg R2SD, NWS2SD, W2SD and getting Platinum at the end of Term 1. The not so good was some of the Team didn't want to go to meetings or they didn't work their hardest. The best thing was working as a team & setting up events for students to use AT.
Last but by no means least, our final class participant in the Challenge, Room 17. I had been given a few hints on what this was like so I was really looking forward to seeing it completed. With 3 TS Team members in the class I knew it would be good! At the moment it is in pride of place in the Office Foyer for all to see. I just love the attention to detail. What a fantastic effort! Well done, Room 17 you have done us all proud.
Yes, we DID give WOO a fitting final…Continue
R1- 3D sculpture, face of one of the children on the WOO sticker.
On the 8-11-16 we judged the Farewell WOO Challenge. Just before we started judging, we took a look at them. It was too hard to choose so we…Continue
For this year's WOO we were very busy! We had hosted walks (W2SD), Walking Wednesday Passports and a Farewell WOO Challenge.
Our school was given lots of WOO stickers from the Heart Foundation, so we decided to have a classroom challenge. Each class was given 300 stickers & asked to create something showing AT. The classes were given all of October to complete the challenge. We are judging next week.
We have made some WW Passports where each Wednesday in October that you…Continue

On Wednesday 26-10-16 the TS Team helped with W2SD hosted walks. Each of us participated in one of the hosted walks. David & I helped at the…Continue
When Mrs Yates tried to register for WOO, she found out that the Heart Foundation would no longer be sponsoring it. We found out that there were LOTS of WOO stickers that needed to be used up, so we offered to take as many as we could have.
There were that many that Beth Goodall, from the HF, decided to deliver them. Mrs Yates asked Beth if she would like to meet the TS Team when she delivered the stickers back in September.
We will be walking all over October as we say farewell to the final Walk Over October. The TS Team will hit the ground running (or walking!) tomorrow with the first TS session where there is much to be done: Star Carding, visiting classes to invite them to take the Challenge, preparing the roster for Walking Wednesdays & the associated Walking Wednesday Passports and preparing for W2SD. Blogging about everything will have to come later!…Continue
The day was cold but those colourful WWU entries & the interest showed in them by passers-by made it much warmer! Plus any excuse to promote TSTS!
Getting everything ready.
The evening was used to do a bit (or a lot) of…Continue
Some of our WWU Winners with the TS Team.
The icing on the cake is seeing the happy smiles on everyone's faces. We used a backdrop of a portion of the entries to further brighten everything! (As you can see…Continue
We started our competition by all sitting down & brainstorming on how to start, how to promote it, the images to use, who will judge what, when it will start & finish, putting up the display & how the entries will be collected.
First we spread all of the entries (group by group) on tables so we could see them all at once.
Then we selected 10-12 that we liked. Next we chose the 3 that were the most eye-catching, colourful & creative. We…Continue
We did the WWU because it is cold & some people are thinking it is too cold to walk to school, but you can still be active, no matter the weather. All parts of our colouring-in competition had something to do with Active Transport and the cold weather. We did have a bit of a hard time with the pictures but we ended up getting through it.
Over the last 2 years, one of the TS Teams' goals has been to fund Bike Ed. for Years 3 & 4 students. We are pleased to say that that goal has been realized in both years. Not only has the goal been achieved on both occasions but it is significant because it has been altruistic ( our Teams funded but were not participants in Bike Ed)
Last week this year's Bike Ed concluded with Instructor Murray taking the 2 groups through their final circuits. A big thank you, Murray for your…Continue
Best laid plans can go out the window! The Team had judging responsibilities all sorted then a class Assembly rehearsal got in the way, depleting our numbers by half!
Junior entries (Pre-Primary to Y2) "on…Continue
On the 26-10-16 is Walk 2 School Day. We will be hosting 3 W2SD walks. We will be serving fruit platters at recess & there will be stickers given to everyone who chooses AT.
We are using these walks as our Farewell to WOO.
The reason for our Farewell to WOO is that the Heart Foundation is no longer funding WOO as an event any more. The HF is moving to Walk WA. It will not be for one day BUT every day.

Through the current term we have been using STAR CARDS.
In Week 1 we had 48 SCers,
Week 2 an additional 63,
Week 3 add another 16,
Week 4 another 12 and
Week 5 another 23,
so a Total of 162 students are SCers.
16 of these have used Active Transport every week on Toesdays (Tuesdays) from the beginning of this term.
These 16 STARS received a prize from our Prize box for completing the first row on…Continue
